On and off the street, Die Laughing Collective produces art saturated by the modern world; images of war, conspiracy, death and lunacy; images of media over-bombing and political propaganda - sometimes insightful, sometimes rude - always absurd. Die Laughing Collective was formed in September 2004 by the artists Jamin, Paicey & Empire after their first collaborative exhibition - Dissent Disrupt Desert (Hobart). Since then, the collective has had several exhibitions including Die Laughing (Melbourne, 2005) and The Rat Palace (Hobart, 2006) as well as completing both public and private commissions. The collective were also invited as feature artists to both the 2005 & 2006 Melbourne/Sydney Stencil Festival and the MAY'S project in Sydney, 2006. All three artists are also active with their own solo work: Jamin: A.K.A., and Moneyshot; Art from Empire. The Die Laughing Collective's website became a weblog in September 2005, in order to better represent street art in Tasmania. |
